Philanthropy & Foundation
Altruistic work during World War I convinced Delta Gamma's that service was an important part of their Fraternity life. Service for Sight was born out of a suggestion in an alumnae workshop at Convention in 1936. The enthusiasm of one particular member - Ruth Billow (H - Akron) - who was blind herself and spoke from notes typed in Braille was the spark which brought the acceptance of Service for Sight as our national project. Each year our alumnae chapter financially supports the national Delta Gamma philanthropy, Service for Sight. There are several ways you can help this year:
- Collect Campbell's product labels.
- Collect General Mills Box Tops for Education.
- Assist nursing home residents during activities or help those with failing eyesight.
- Read to individuals who are blind or visually impaired.
- Contact DSS (disabled student service) offices or local schools and offer your help.
